Marijuana is particularly harmful to pregnant women and young people, according to Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH, in an advisory issued Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.
Dr. Adams warned of the potential harms to developing brains posed by the increasing availability of highly potent marijuana in multiple, concentrated forms. He called for urgently needed science-based campaigns and targeted prevention programming to ensure that risks are clearly communicated.
